Publication ethics
CJES adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices and Code of Conduct across every aspect of publication, with a strong commitment to research integrity, transparency, and accountability.
Authorship criteria (ICMJE)
Listed authors must meet all four ICMJE criteria: (1) substantial contribution to conception, design, data acquisition, or analysis; (2) drafting or critical revision for important intellectual content; (3) final approval of the version to be published; (4) accountability for all aspects of the work. Contributors who do not meet all four criteria should be named in the Acknowledgements with their explicit permission.
Conflict of interest disclosure
All authors must disclose funding sources, institutional support, and any financial or non-financial competing interests that could be perceived to influence the work. These are reported in a dedicated section of the manuscript and visible to readers on publication.
Data sharing
CJES strongly encourages authors to deposit underlying data, code, and analysis scripts in public repositories (e.g., Zenodo, OSF, Dryad, GitHub) and include a Data Availability Statement. Submissions involving human subjects must follow appropriate de-identification practices.
Corrections and retractions
CJES follows COPE retraction guidelines. Significant errors that do not invalidate findings are corrected via an Erratum or Correction notice linked to the original article. Findings that are unreliable due to honest error or research misconduct trigger a Retraction. Both stay permanently visible and linked by DOI to the original publication.
Complaints and appeals
Authors, reviewers, and readers may submit complaints to the editorial office. The Editor-in-Chief and Ethics Officer review complaints and respond within 30 days. Serious complaints (allegations of misconduct, breaches of confidentiality, undisclosed conflicts) are handled through the formal COPE process.
